Adopting From the Adoption Replacement
Program
A Child’s Waiting adoption agency is not only an open adoption agency, but also specializes in an adoption disruption child replacement program. We are based in Akron Ohio, but as an adoption agency, we work with
adoptive families from around the country who feel unable
to parent an adoptive child for one reason or another that leads to adoption disruption.
The adoptive children can range in age from birth to seventeen
years of age and are of all ethic, racial and cultural
backgrounds. The needs of the child will also range
on a spectrum from normal to severe. In order to
be considered as an adoptive family for these children that have been through adoption disruption, your family must
have a current domestic homestudy. Your family
will be called with potential situations and presented
with the information. Once you have had a chance
to review the documentation, you can decide whether
or not to be included in a staffing for the child.
A Child’s Waiting adoption services narrows down the possible
adoptive families and ranks them for the current legal parents
who make the final decision about the child’s
placement.
Because these children
are considered private adoptions (they are not currently residing
in foster care and they are in the legal custody of their
adoptive parents), there are minimal fees for placement although
there are no fees to be a part of our child replacement family
pool. At the time that A Child’s Waiting adoption agency
presents the child’s information to you, an estimated
fee will be given. Final costs depend on your residential
state and the process needed to get the child home to you.
On average, the fees will range anywhere from $3500 to $6000.
The previous adoptive family who initiates the adoption disruption
renders payment for our assessments of the child, family identification,
transition preparation, as well as all legal fees needed to
terminate their parental rights. Your family is responsible
for your placement fee, post-placement supervision, and finalization
costs. Children that were adopted internationally are not
eligible for subsidy but may fall under the criteria for Social
Security Benefits. Children who were adopted domestically
out of foster care system may be eligible to have continued
subsidy if they were receiving payments in the current adoptive
placement. This information is part of the adoption services
provided by the adoption agency and will be given to you at
the time the worker is presenting the child’s information. |
