Sarah & Mitchell's Adoption Story
We have nothing but praise for A Child’s
Waiting Adoption Agency. We continue
to be amazed by the amount of individual attention
we receive from them. When we first
initiated contact with the Agency, we were immediately
able to set up an appointment with one of the co-owners
to learn more about their agency and the adoption
process. From that day on, we knew what to
expect next and what we needed to do. We felt comfortable
calling them with any questions. We
were always surprised when the person on the other
end of the phone knew who we were instantaneously. Their
awareness of our identity made us confident that
we would never get lost in the shuffle.
We were also impressed by how they handled our
decision not to pursue a birth mother who was interested
in viewing our profile. We were concerned
that we would “black ball” ourselves
when we showed that we were not willing to follow
all leads. However, within a week
the agency called with information about another
birth mother. The people at A Child’s
Waiting demonstrated to us that they are respectful
of our individual preferences.
Even after we successfully adopted our son, people
from the agency continued to help us with insurance
problems and parental leave issues. They
helped us find contacts in several departments
of the U. S. government.
We chose A Child’s Waiting because people
from both sides of the adoption process recommended
them to us. We now recommend them to others
because we trust them. As a couple who wanted
to have a child, we were very vulnerable. They
guided us, kept us informed, and spoke frankly
with us through every step of the process.
We now have an amazing son. We have frequent
contact with his birth family including his great
aunts and uncles. Their family is a part
of ours. We look forward to visits from them. We
chose open adoption because we thought it would
be best for our son, but we have learned that it
is great for us too. We love our son’s
birthmother and are forever grateful for her love
and sacrifice.
