Adoption Stories - Stephanie's Story
Sunday, June 3, 1979: When
we first got in, it looked luxjurious. But
it still is a little bit. We
have a pool on the outside of the
hotel(Camino). We have a good
view from the 8th floor. Monday,
June 4, 1979: We have Stephanie
now. I can’t wait for
her to see George and Molly. Whenever
I hit her tummy, she laughs. She
loves it and a lot of other things. We
can see 3 volcanos from the window. The
biggest one is in the middle. I’ve
been on two planes and we stopped
at Greensboro and Charlotte, South
Carolina and Florida for 3 hours
and Guatemala for 40 minutes and
El Salvador for 7 days. The
airlines were Eastern and Pan American.
Tues.: Stephanie woke us up
2 times because she wanted her milk. First
she woke us at midnight and then
at 5. I went into the pool
today and one side was 4 feet deep
and the other was 10 feet. The
4ft. was up to my chin and if I went
into the 10ft. I’d be underwater. I
didn’t have much time to swim
because it was going to rain hard. It
wasn’t a long shower, but it
seemed like it. I went to a
store to buy some markers and they
cost 8.00. Rip off, isn’t
it? In Florida lots of people
speak Spanish witch I didn’t
know. When I was at the Embassy,
I had Montezuma’s revenge(diarearea)
It was because I ate sausage for
breakfast. Stephanie had Montezuma’s
revenge 2 times. She tore a
page from a book neatly. Yesterday
while we were going to the room in
the elevator we were pulled down
to a floor where a man came in with
his swimming trunks on and I thought
there might be an indoor pool, but
it was just a hall to the outside
pool.
Wed., Today when I was in a taxi
I saw a begger. He looked so
old. Now I see at Salvador
a Volkswagon pickup a Datsun truck
and a Volkswagon ant.
Thurs.: I went
to the orpahanage. It looked
like a little castle for children. I
saw a man sitting on a sidewalk using
water from the drain. He has
go to be mad. Stephanie’s
real name was Amanda Maria. Her
crib was in a corner. In 1980
Stephanie will be a citizen and will
start celebrating holidays with us.
