Description
Children in this program can be of any
race or ethnic group. Children
may be of varying ages but, are generally
below the age of 12. This program
is designed for families wishing to adopt
younger children, or sibling group that
include a child 0-5. Families interested
in this program are considered for children
that are in the public system both in Ohio
and throughout the U.S..
These children are currently in the custody
of a county and have been removed from
their parents care due to abuse and/or
neglect.
These families will be included on our
available families list that is distributed
to many of the public custodial agencies
with possible waiting children.
All families in this program must be willing
to travel in order to bring their child(ren)
home. Some counties will reimburse
for travel expenses.
At this time, little or no funding is
available for adoptions that occur in the
State of Ohio. Additionally, funding can
be limited in other states. Due to these
factors, families are required to pay for
their homestudies. ADOPTION GRANTS
ARE OFFERED BY A CHILD’S WAITING
TO FAMILIES INTERESTED IN ADOPTING FROM
THIS PROGRAM.
To become eligible, the applicant must
request a grant application and submit
it to Co-Director for consideration. In
the event that funding is available from
the custodial county, services after a
child is matched with your family fees
will be covered by the custodial agency.
There is a tax credit of $10,000 available
for adoptive families in the year that
they finalize their adoption.
Some states offer non-reoccurring expense
reimbursement up to $1000 for expenses
paid.
Requirements
Participants in this program must have the
homestudy assessment completed by an Ohio agency
and an approved photo profile/collage.
Additionally, the release form must be signed
to receive a copy of your homestudy from the
holding agency. The adoptive family should
discuss their desire for ACW to assist in their
child search. In the event of a match, ACW
will handle all aspects of the adoption. Adoptive
families also have the option to totally transfer
their homestudy to ACW for matching. All options
can be discussed during intake.
