Domestic Waiting
Older Child Program- State and/or
Family Funded
Description
Children in this program can be of any
race or ethnic group. Families interested
in Programs I are only considered
for children aged 7 years and older that
are currently in the foster care system
for a permanent family. These children
are currently in the custody of a county
and have been removed from their parents
care due to abuse and/or neglect. These
children may be in the custody of an Ohio
county or another State county. The
custodial agencies will generally offer
subsidies and a medical card for the child(ren). These
families will be included on our available
families list that is distributed to many
of the public custodial agencies
with possible waiting children. All families
in this program must be willing
to travel in order to bring their child
home. At times, reimbursement for travel
may be available. The custodial agencies
will generally offer subsidies and a medical
card for the child(ren)
At this time, little or no funding is
available for adoptions that occur in the
State of Ohio. Additionally, funding can
be limited in other states. Due to these
factors, families are required to pay for
their homestudies. ADOPTION GRANTS
ARE OFFERED BY A CHILD’S WAITING
TO FAMILIES INTERESTED IN ADOPTING FROM
THIS PROGRAM.
To become eligible, the applicant must
request a grant application and submit
it to Co-Director for consideration. In
the event that funding is available from
the custodial county, services after a
child is matched with your family fees
will be covered by the custodial agency.
If the child is part of the Child Specific
Recruitment Project, THERE ARE NO FEES.
There
is a tax credit of $11,650 available for adoptive
families in the year that they finalize their adoption.
Some states offer non-reoccurring expense reimbursement
up to $1000 for expenses paid.
